As we celebrate the
20th Anniversary of
Klondike Days, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you
to participate in the 2010
The payout for the Main Event will be as
follows.

Competitors are
expected to supply their own wood for the main event.
Set up will begin on Friday afternoon and continue Saturday
morning. Each competitor
will be expected to carve both days, although it is not expected that
the carving will be continuous.
Carving times for the main event will be Saturday This is considered
a Chainsaw Only Event.
Paints and tools such as sanders, grinders, and chainsaw attachments
(other than the typical bar and chain) are not allowed.
Carvers can use markers to mark the area to be cut and blowers to
remove sawdust. Burning and brushing with a wire brush of the burned
area will also be allowed. Judgment
concerning tools and finishes will be at the sole discretion of the
event coordinator and will be considered final although there will be a
brief meeting before the event to give Carvers an opportunity to address
any questions or concerns they may have. Individuals not
affiliated with the management of Klondike Days will conduct judging on
Sunday afternoon. Judging
will be based on several factors including creative expression, artistic
quality, balance and proportion, and similarity to the Klondike Days
theme. The carving being
done during the event will be the sole basis for judging and will be the
property of the competitor when finished.
Competitors may display and sell other carvings, but these should
be placed in such a manner as to not influence the judges’ decision. A
quick carving competition
will be held Sunday after the judging of the main event. The winner of
the one-hour quick carving competition will receive $150.00.
The 2nd place winner will receive $50.00.
All quick carve pieces will become property of Klondike Days to
be auctioned off at the following year’s event to raise money for
Klondike Days. Rules and
judging for the Quick Carving Competition will be the same as above,
except there will be no restriction on the theme of the carving.
We will supply the wood for the Quick Carving Competition.
We have reserved 55 motel rooms in 6
